The staff and students at Windemere Park Charter Academy believe that giving back is an important part of our responsibility as we train the future leaders in our Lansing community. The WPCA family participates in school-wide service projects in addition to grade-level initiatives, as well. Some community service projects have included raising money for Heifer International’s Read to Feed Program and donating money to help animals stranded during Hurricane Katrina. Students also have participated in the annual coin drive to raise money for local food banks and the Relay for Life Walk for cancer research.
Community partnerships that enhance our academic program are sought after on a continuing basis and supported by our school improvement plan. These partnerships have included literacy tutors through Michigan State University and the Capital Area Literacy Coalition, Science in the City, and the Delta Township Public Library. We also have partnered with Lansing Parks and Recreation and the YMCA in our athletic programs.
